We both finished work last week, then spent Christmas weekend consolidating all our worldly goods into a 10x6 trailer. This is jam packed and represents our lives, it also weighs over 2 1/2 tonnes, which is about 1/2 a tonne more than the trailer and car are rated for, so fingers crossed it gets us all the way there!
So we are now on the road to our new lives, and all I'll say at this stage is that geographically we are moving the same distance as from London to the southern toe of Italy, or for our North American friends, the same distance as going from Montreal, Canada to Miami, Florida.
We set off 26 hours ago and despite our slow towing speed we have passed the half way mark, and driven over 1,444km so far. The weather has been great, and as always we have found lots of obscure sights on our road trip thus far. A few of the highlights have been:
Finding somewhere to get a quality education
A Hotel for Cows
Travelling the entire Solar System along one road (we only stopped at Saturn).
And an often confused GPS.
For all those who promised to come visit us in Melbourne, well, you missed your chance - we might be a little pre-occupied over the next few weeks, but we'll do our best to update again soon ...

I hope your car survives the trip. I assume you're heading to western Australia, good luck.
My first thought was New Zealand, but then reading further about you driving there, my guess is t'up North to Queensland.
So where are you planning on heading? Any place you've decided yet? I, too, will, be moving very soon. After March 31st, I'll be moving out of UT and following my dream :) I'm so excited for me and for you guys. Let me know where you land. Take care!!
Darwin. or Perth. They're the furthest points from your last residence on the Continent. Otherwise I'm hoping for Buffalo.
